A family week-end in Chicago

This week-end didn't happen as we planned. The rest of the family had really boring problems with the car they rent. So on Saturday we didn't go in Milwaukee and decided to go back to Chicago. My parents, brothers and sister are actually camping at Lake Geneva which is 1 hour from Waukegan and 2 hours from Chicago. I couldn't go by car with them because they only have 5 places.

Just before I left Lilac Cottage I had a little misfortune! In the house there is an alarm system that we turn on during the night. This morning I went downstairs for the laundry and forgot to turn the alarm off. I didn't hear that it was ringing and... the police arrived ! (haha I know you're laughing at me right now...!). Finally, I explained the situation to the police, I missed my taxi, Claudia came to repair the alarm and pick me up to the train station.

I went to Macy's (it's like Les Galeries Lafayette). It's a nine levels Neoclassical building. Built between 1852 and 1914 by Daniel Burnham.

It's really huge, and you can easily be lost in!

 Lost in Chicago?

We went to the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MCP)

And we took siblings pictures in Millenium Park ;)

I quickly went to see the Marc Chagall's Four Season mosaic. Glass and stone tiles in 250 different shades.

On Sunday, the Dad and the bro picked me up to go to Chicago and change the car (long long and boring story). We were supposed to go to Lake Geneva all together after this. But unfortunatly, when we arrived at 11:00am the car was not ready and we had to wait until 3:00pm. Not really what we planned man!

So we went to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA). There are a lot of floors and several exhibitions by floor.

Rashid Jonhson. Message to Our Folks.

Phantom Limb : Approaches to Painting Today.
Sigmar Polke, Ashes to Ashes, 1992

Skyscraper : Art and Architecture Against Gravity.
Then my camera didn't have battery so I'll probably go back to take some pictures of this exhibition

The city of Chicago in fabrics...

Hope you had a good week-end too !

xx
